Lauren Traum is a Predoctoral Research Fellow at the Center on Poverty and Inequality, joining CPI through the IRiSS Predoctoral Researchers Program. At the CPI's Voices Lab, she explores how large language models can surface meaningful insights from personal narratives collected through the American Voices Project. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College, where she majored in philosophy and minored in mathematics. Her previous research includes building statistically grounded ideological maps of state legislatures, measuring discrepancies in federal housing subsidies for homeowners and renters, and using AI tools to expand access to pre-digital public financial disclosure documents.
