California

The California Welfare Laboratory provides state-of-the-art research and data to answer complex questions on policy, poverty, and welfare in California. For more than 15 years, the lab has served as a resource for the public, policymakers, and practitioners. Its goal is to provide high-quality and comprehensive evidence in order to facilitate the development of poverty policy in California. 

The Lab has a three-part mission:

(1) To monitor and evaluate recent developments in poverty and the safety net in California.

(2) To provide recent trend data on poverty, inequality, and safety net use in California. 

(3) To inform the public, policymakers, and practicioners about research on poverty and the safety net in California.
