Professor Hall is a sociologist and demographer whose research focused broadly on racial/ethnic inequality, immigration, and neighborhood change. His recent research has followed three main veins: 1) the rise of “new destinations” where immigration has been recent and rapid, and its consequences for intergroup relations; 2) the incorporation of low-skill and unauthorized immigrants into US labor and housing markets; and 3) changes in the nature of racial stratification and segregation in residential settings. In addition to these research efforts, Hall teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in demography, immigration policy, and statistics.
